New Tent at Milton Farm Hideaway

Seperate to our bell tent hire business, our Hideaway’s stay up all season and host multiple groups of guests in each site from April to October, transforming small pockets of the rural countryside into comfortable and unexpected hospitality venues, sharing the beautiful countryside appreciated only by farmers from their tractors – until now.

After a lengthy 3yr long planning process, we have finally installed the first new bespoke safari tent at the site, crafted by local tent builder Q&R Events:

We want to attract guests who might choose rustic, off-grid, almost inaccessible and frankly inconvenient locations just to experience rural wildlife at its best.

The hideaway portfolio demonstrates our love of working with nature and other people, prioritising the use of building with upcycled materials where possible, local and in-house woodworking, metal work and a dedication to offer comfort to our guests in wild spaces. We know what it is to be outdoors around the clock, and enjoy doing the hard work so all our guests have to do is let down their guard and relax in nature.

What a Hideaway offers:

• Rural settings: typically set at the heart of working farmland, surrounded by crop fields, livestock and woodlands, rich with British wildlife, wildflowers, insects, trees, butterflies, birds and more
• Off-grid: Being off-grid means no electricity, an opportunity to disconnect from technology. Our guests instead have access to storm lamps, lanterns, candles and solar lights which come on automatically at dusk to mark facilities at night. We provide essentials to be comfortable – running water, hot showers and composting loo’s, it’s just slightly more rustic to what your used to at home.
• Fully Equipped: Other than comfortable beds, a wood fired hot tub, luxurious blankets and towels, the hideaway also provides an open fire pit, gas stove, pots, pans and cutlery. A large cool box keeps food and drinks fresh. We also provide wood burners in the tents and hut for warmth at night, along with hot water bottles.

MFH operates within the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Official Dark Sky Reserve.

The site specifically hosts groups of up to 10 guests exclusively, prioritising the peace and privacy of the people who stay with us. Guests can immerse themselves in nature from the comfort of seasonal glamping structures that work with, and do not harm the countryside in pertuity.

Complete with comfortable furnishings and natural bed linen, memory foam mattresses, cut flowers, hot water bottles, warm blankets, solar lighting and more – everything is guaranteed tip-top quality.

James Hyde, (A.K.A Farmer Jimmer) is farmer and landowner at Milton Farm. He approached us in 2019 with an interest to start a unique hospitality venture on his beautiful land in South Wiltshire. With strong interests in ecology, adventure and camping it was set to be a fun collaboration.

He was excited about the opportunity to make his land pay whilst seeking the opportunity to also commit this pastures back to to indigenous chalkland wildflower hay meadows, tree planting, and fauna friendly environments throughout the summer months for the wildlife and guests to enjoy:

The government says that the SFP will be replaced by grants for creating wildlife spaces – if I can find a way to make what I need at the same time as looking after my piece of England as best as I can for the wildlife, then I can’t wait. Bellorama Hideaway’s has been instrumental in helping me find a way to create an income whilst reducing the farm’s impact on the environment. Apart from the financial benefits to the farm, it has been a real joy to welcome people and see the pleasure our beautiful working landscape brings.

To be successful, the model must work in harmony with nature, the local community and of course the guests… challenge accepted. Our goal / KPI is to achieve biodiversity net gain at the end of every season in every area we occupy.
